Wa-hoo!
I'm torn. I'm tickled to pull this page up and see my name in the number one position but I feel bad for the guy who is now number two. I worked real hard just to finish these races and I raced a lot of times but, other than Verne a couple of times, I've never beaten anybody. I raced with the now number two guy at Return on the Jedi and he lapped me, twice. Do I really deserve number one?

Dave,
Good on ya! BAR points should only be taken with a LARGE grain of salt and then, only for fun. I'm tied with Ryan Trebon and Molly Cameron. I'll probably finish higher than Ryan because I'll do more Oregon races and they'll be smaller ones that skew the points system. I like to call it "points farming"! Anyway, if your BAR points are what you are using as the basis of your resume builder, then you have a pretty long shot a getting some primo sponsorship! See you in K-Falls Sunday.
Even though I check them out all the time, I don't take BAR points very seriously. I'm afraid that some people do though. At the BAR road race in Ranier this year I introduced myself to a group of guys in my age group. They knew who I was and were real cold to me. "You don't even live in Oregon" they said as they turned and walked away. I've always thought of Del Norte County, where I live, as Baja Oregon. It's more like Oregon than California. I've been racing bikes in Oregon for three years now and triathlons for 5 or 6 years previously. The triathlon people were really anti California. They wouldn't even include my in their rankings unless I used an Oregon address. I've always felt welcomed by and a part of the Southern Oregon bike racing community. Maybe we should talk up the State of Jefferson again.
